፭ Things with WOLF OF ABYSSINIA
How did it all begin?
In 2018, while I was pregnant I started to learn knitting from my grandma. Finding personalized items in Ethiopia is hard and many other new mothers around me were interested in what I created and started ordering my products. I’m married to a manufacturing engineer so, together we started making quality, perfect fitting, cute baby stuff and decided to call it Wolf of Abyssinia.
WHERE ARE THE MATERIALS SOURCED?
All products are made in Ethiopia with shoes made with Ethiopian sheep leather all processed in Ethiopia, and blankets again made in Ethiopia with organic Ethiopian cotton hand woven as ‘Gabi’ (Gabi (Amharic: ጋቢ) is a handmade cloth worn by Ethiopians mainly over the shoulders and upper body, and is made out of cotton. Unlike the two-layered kuta (worn by men) and netela (worn by women), it consists of four layers), but for t-shirts, the fabric is sourced from Turkey and other lining materials are from China yet all are assembled in Ethiopia.
PEOPLE, THE ENVIRONMENT - LET’S TALK
Wolfaby recruits its knitters from experienced mothers working part-time remotely. Our cotton is sourced from a controlled supply chain making sure the farmers and craftsmen earn their fair share. and we pay our employees a fair wage in a safe and clean workspace, finally we control our waste to avoid unnecessary waste dump into the environment.
WHAT DO BUYERS MOSTLY GRAVITATE TOWARDS?
Bestsellers depend on the seasons but Tilet Hodded gabi and shoe + Ethiopian tees are the best sellers. In the near future, we are planning to make flagship diaper bags for mothers on the move with all the necessary compartments.
OUR AUDIENCE WANTS TO KNOW THIS THE MOST. HOW TO BUY IT?
We are available worldwide on Etsy with 24hr message support for any product request. For the local market, you can place your order on any of our social media platforms.
